Pamporovo Ski Resort

The resort of Pamporovo is a modern ski resort in the heart of the Rhodopi Mountains and has a unique claim to fame; it is the sunniest Bulgarian ski resort. This bright, modern resort high in the mountains has on average no less than 270 sunny days a year and in the winter has an ideal combination – plenty of snow and sunshine. Pamporovo is situated 1650 m above sea level at the foot of peak Snejanka (1926 m). It is 240 km from Sofia and 85 km from Plovdiv.

The skiing season starts from mid - December to mid - April. The average air temperature is - 3 ° C. Pamporovo suitable for beginners. There are 35kms of marked pistes suitable for intermediate skiers. Also there are difficult ski runs like the Giant Slalom run which is an excellent exercise for every skiing expert. Advanced skiers will enjoy the challenge of the “Wall”, accessible from the drag lift from the middle station.

This is undoubtedly Pamporovo’s most exciting run and has a combination of being both difficult, steep. The ski runs in Pamporovo come in all hardship levels. They are located between 1926 and 1450 m above the sea level on the northern, eastern and western slopes of The Snejanka peak. Off-piste skiing and snowboarding is available in this resort, however we recommend using a local guide when going off-piste.

A day trip to Plovdiv or the nearby town of Smolyan and the Bachkovo Monastery are recommended for those who wish to take a break from skiing. A number of shops are available at the resort. The shopping centre is located in the area of Perelik and Murgavets hotels.
